Coinciding with the eponymous project’s inauguration and the dispersion of Sirens Pray, the first of Gape’s diary excerpts to be published by The Estate, The Estate of Myour Gape is designed as a wake, the space functioning as a ‘chapelle ardente’.
Upon signature of a Consignment Form offered by gallery attendants upon arrival, visitors to the funerary chamber may be entrusted with personal copies of Sirens Pray. The diary (which the consignees are kindly asked to open only once physically alone in their bedroom) is a tightly woven and intimate pillow book encompassing poetry, personal reflections, romantic considerations, to-do lists and therapeutic musings, culminating in a theoretical meditation on the contemporary hegemony of property. All the physical works in the show are themselves materic renderings of passages, fragments and doodles from the diary, hermeneutically developed by Ciarrocca. As of Summer 2024, all we know about Gape’s practice and life comes from this extensive source of journals, allegedly discovered by Ciarrocca in a basement in Westwood, California.

The wake's soundscape production began with a recording of the exhibition space's ambient sound at night, captured a couple of days before opening. This 'silent' recording was then amplified in post-production by adding gain across the entire frequency spectrum, revealing the intricate details within what we typically think of as silence. The resulting 180-minute noise track played through speakers installed beneath the central piece in the installation, Myour’s coffin, with the sound traversing the fabric and resonating throughout the space. Sound recording and production by Giangiacomo Gallo.
